The hierarchical structure of aikido has the disadvantage of attracting those people interested in the rank and esteem they think they gain, although the pursuit of this prestige comes at the expense of aikido principles. It’s all ego. They become the opposite of aiki. They have no aiki principles because they sacrifice them for an illusion of privilege. Those with true aiki know the difference.
